Additional Vascular Disease Services
At Champlain Valley Vascular, we offer a range of surgical and non-surgical options for treatment of many different vascular diseases. We also provide services for the following:
Renal stenosis – a condition that refers to the narrowing of the renal arteries that supply blood to the kidneys. This can impact the flow of blood to the kidneys and impair their function. Methods to treat renal stenosis include medication, renal artery bypass surgery and a minimally invasive option that involves angioplasty and the placement of a stent to keep the artery open and functioning properly.
Mesenteric stenosis – a condition that can result in inadequate blood flow to the small intestine. Decreased blood flow can cause abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Our treatment options for mesenteric stenosis includes arterial bypass surgery, as well as minimally invasive alternatives such as balloon angioplasty, transaortic endarterectomy and the placement of a stent to keep the artery open and blood flowing.
Venous disease – venous disease includes any condition that affects the body’s veins, and typically involves a clot, damage or obstruction within the vessel. If medications such as blood thinners (e.g. warfarin or heparin) are not effective, various surgical and minimally invasive treatment options are available. Procedures performed at our outpatient center for the treatment of deep vein clots include DVT thrombolysis, a minimally invasive and image guided option to deliver clot-dissolving medication directly to the site of the obstruction within the vein.
Temporal artery biopsy – the temporal arteries are blood vessels on each side of your forehead. A temporal artery biopsy involves removing a small piece of tissue from one or both of the temporal arteries to help diagnose conditions like giant cell arteritis (GCA) which can lead to complications like stroke, blindness and aneurysm.
