When long-time nurse and colleague of Dr. Pabst found herself suffering from painful varicose veins after years on her feet, she turned to the one place she knew prioritized thorough, compassionate care—Champlain Valley Vascular. Having witnessed the quality of treatment firsthand as a nurse, she made the decision to step into the role of patient, and the experience exceeded even her high expectations. In this blog, she shares her unique perspective on what it’s like to receive care from a team that treats every patient like family—and how one quick, painless procedure helped her get back to work without missing a beat.
What led you to seek care/choose Champlain Valley Vascular?
I have known Dr. Pabst as a surgeon for many years in different settings. He is well known for being very thorough. After working for him as an RN in his facility, I truly saw how thorough, trustworthy and competent he was. I then went from the nursing role to one of the patients and I’m so thankful I did.
What were your initial concerns or challenges before starting treatment?
After multiple pregnancies and working as a nurse on my feet all day, I developed varicose veins that I had dealt with for many years prior to treatment. I eventually sought treatment for the aching pain. My ultrasound was done right here at Champlain Valley Vascular and it was confirmed that I was a candidate for treatment.
How has your experience with our practice/treatment been?
The procedure was quick and painless, the staff was extremely supportive and although I had seen this procedure multiple times; being on the other side is very different. I am a very nervous person and even knowing each of the steps, Dr. Pabst and the staff still made sure to explain every part of the procedure as it was happening, putting me at ease.
What aspects of our practice/treatment stood out to you the most?
The biggest surprise of the treatment was how truly easy it was. I was able to get right off the stretcher and back to work after the procedure!
What are the biggest benefits you’ve experienced?
I no longer have aching leg pain or visible varicose veins; which is a big deal for someone on their feet most of the day.
How would you describe your experience with our doctors/staff?
I would like to say that as an employee that I received special treatment but in reality, every person who walks into Champlain Valley Vascular receives special treatment. Every patient who walks in the door is considered family, and that’s a good feeling to have.
If you could share one thing with others who might be considering our practice/treatment, what would it be?
